Erntedanke
What is Erntedanke? Danke means thanks in German and ernte is harvest; therefore, Erntedank is the equivalent of Thanksgiving day in the United States except for the turkey and pecan pie. It's celebrated on a Sunday between the end of September mid-October.
People bring their harvest (or they buy it in the market) of fresh fruits and vegetables (kein Puten =no turkey) to share with others in the church especially those in need.
In the left side of the photo you can see the colorful display of fruits and vegetables; we were about to take the Lord's Supper. click the photo.
